Flood Warning For This Week

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has warned the weather will drastically change with heavy rains and risk of floods. At the moment, Cambodia is getting light to moderate rain coming from the low pressure Valley of India. Between this week’s Monday to Wednesday, the low pressure will re-emerge with the active low pressure coming from the South China Sea, which will bring heavy rains to the north regions.

By Friday, a depression coming to the South China Sea will increase the typhoon predicted to hit Vietnam around September 25. The Typhoon will surely impact the northeastern parts of the Kingdom. The government is warning all citizens to be extra precautious.

Floods could happen at the lowlands, which includes the provinces of Phnom Penh, Battambang , Kandal, Kampong Speu, Pursat, Pailin and Banteay Meanchey. At Dangrek and Cardamon mountains, the sky will also be cloudy and smoggy, with floods possibly ocurring at the provinces around the mountains range.

At the seaside, gusts brought by heavy rains will affect specially the province of Koh Kong, where the National Road Number 4 could be flooded.
